  • Item description
  • Hi! My name is Mikayla Sewell, and I am a proud member of Batchewana First Nation. I have been passionate about sports specifically hockey since I was 4 years old. I spent most of my youth playing in boys hockey, an experience that shaped my competitiveness, resilience, and love for the game. I wrapped up my minor hockey years with the female rep program; Wildcats which is now known as Soo Jr. Greyhound Girls Hockey. I had the opportunity to play one season with ACHA D1 Lake Superior State Lakers until I decided to take a step away and focus on my studies. Today, I still continue to play hockey by playing in the Blind River Ladies Hockey League and joining competitive tournaments throughout the season. Hockey has always been more than a sport to me. It’s a place to express myself, push my limits, and learn that failure is part of growth. My goal is to help inspire and build confidence in our youth. I want young players to feel empowered, supported, and brave enough to chase their goals both on and off the ice, just as hockey helped me do.
